Your Health Home in Rural Northeastern California

Board Of Directors: Jim Billo

Jim Billo

Jbillo02I am a recent newcomer to the Intermountain Area.  I moved up here January 3, 2013.  I worked in Nursing as an RN for 35 years in several major hospitals and two smaller ones.  In August 2011, I retired from Mercy Medical Center in Merced, California.  During my career, I worked in the ICU, the ED, and ED management exclusively.  I was a director of Emergency and Trauma at different facilities from 1980 through 2006.  At that time, I returned to the ED as a staff RN for the last five years of my career.

I was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and raised all over the world until my mother retired from the USAF and I graduated from Atwater High School in 1964.  I was a medic in the USAF, which started my nursing career.  I obtained a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis, my nursing degree from Los Medanos College, and an MBA from St. Mary’s College of California.

I am active in community service through the Rotary Club of Burney-Fall River, the St. Vincent De Paul Society through church, and as a member of the Mountain Cruisers Car Club.  My hobbies are fly fishing, fly tying, and woodworking.  I have been married to Kathy for 42 years and we have three children:  Dan, 35, a chef in Boston; Bryon, 33, a buyer for 3M in St. Paul; and Alexis, 31, a 1st Lt. in the army, stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mississippi.

I have been a member of the MVHC board since June 2014 and have a serious concern to address health care needs and service issues and to improve the overall status of health care locally and at the state and national levels.
