Richard Fuentes was born in Isleton, California, a beautiful little town on the delta directly on the Sacramento River. He graduated from Rio Vista High School in 1969 and was in the United States Air Force from which he was honorably discharged. He had a career of 39 years with the United States Postal Service and retired as postmaster. He is married to Donna Fuentes and has 3 children–Angella, 39 years; Michael, 35 years; Lindsey, 33 years; and two step-children–Rachel, 26 years; and Tanner, 24 years. Richard coached high school varsity softball (Fall River and Burney) and golf. His major achievements were being a member of the 1978 national championship softball team and a member of the 1979 softball team that finished fifth in the world. His community affiliations are: past president of Fall River Softball Association, president of Burney Men’s Bowling League, past member of Fall River Lions, fastpitch softball coach for Little League Girls in both Fall River and Burney, baseball coach for Little League Boys in Fall River, past golf coach for Fall River High School, and coach for numerous all-star teams of boys and girls for both Burney and Fall River.
